a weekender guide to sydney's newtown
What a funky little suburb that really is a hipster’s paradise. It’s beyond my definition of hipster though, even a step or few past San Francisco’s Mission District. Full of street art & graffiti murals, it’s a pretty colorful place. I am sharing my weekend getaway guide to Sydney’s Newtown below on the blog as your ultimate itinerary for 1-2 days in Newtown:

I came here with a friend for a girls’ getaway (since I live in Manly which is on the complete opposite side of Sydney) and stayed at a quirky little industrial chic hotel called The Urban Newtown - very centrally located and won’t break the bank as it’s suited for budget travelers. The rooms are cozy, but we were really happy with the hospitality and our stay there! The other main option would be Airbnb in this area.

*Accommodation for this post was sponsored by the Urban Newtown, but as always all opinions are my own.

Newtown is likely overlooked on your first trip to Sydney, as it’s more of a locals’ spot since it’s west and away from the city’s famous beaches. That’s one of the beauties of it - it’s not overcrowded with tourists! It’s a great spot to checkout (or even just go out to dinner & bars in) if you have some extra time in Sydney after hitting up the top 10 things to do on your visit. It’s easy to get to from the city, (less so from Manly 🤷🏼♀️) because it’s right on the train line & you’ll find plenty to do in Newtown!
