soma, san francisco

In all of San Francisco, SOMA is definitely where I've spent most of my time, considering I'm there 40+ hours a week for work. SOMA is the hub of all the tech companies in San Francisco, so there's a lot of spots that have popped up in the last 5-10 years to make it a happening place, mostly during the weekdays (it's a bit more quiet on the weekends!) Below is my list of the top 10 things to do in San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood - hope you enjoy!

1. Visit SPiN

A ping pong bar filled with hipsters and developers that has a DJ most nights -- the perfect spot to grab a drink after work or go for your next team outing! It's worthwhile to note that you get buckets of ping pong balls refilled and they use these mop-like gadgets to sweep everything up and refill your bucket, meaning you don't have to shag your own balls!!! The tables aren't cheap and you should reserve them in advance, but it's well worth the experience. Nothing else says Silicon Valley quite like this bar.

2. Catch a Giants game at AT&T park

Home of the 8 time world series champs, AT&T park is not only fun because of the baseball, but it also has some of the best food in the city (my favorites include a slice of Tony's pizza, the crab sando & Gilroy garlic fries!) and a pretty awesome view of the bay! Just make sure to watch out for the AT&T Park seagulls around the 8th inning.

3. Stay at Hotel VIA

You'll absolutely love this chic boutique hotel. It's minimalist style had me drooling - and did I mention 2 rooftop bars/patios with a skyline view?! PS: use code TUI15 for 15% off your stay!

4. Grab dinner at Marlowe, Zero Zero, or Prospect

Marlowe is one of the cutest dinner spots in San Francisco with a farm-to-table menu that won't disappoint you. Zero Zero is another one of my favorites - a delicious Italian spot with some amazing pizza and even better ricotta beignets for dessert! Prospect, a bit more upscale than the first two, is a sister restaurant to the well known Boulevard, and has a solid menu with contemporary American food.

5. Take a walk through South Park

This cute little park is pretty empty on the weekends, but BUSTLING during weekday lunches as all the techies come here to escape the office. Don't miss the story of how Twitter among other tech companies were founded in South Park! There's a ton of cute restaurants along this park as well.

6. Go wine tasting at Bluxome Street Winery

One of the cutest spaces in SF with their string lights and wine barrels adorning the inside, Bluxome Street Winery is the perfect spot to snag a flight of wine and play some corn hole!
