where san francisco foodies eat: italian
Hey everyone! I wanted to share some of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco with you all in a more organized way. I'm always getting asked by coworkers, friends, and family where to go out to eat for various occasions. I want to start sharing not only my favorite spots, but also spots that some of my other favorite well known San Francisco foodies eat. Let's start this thing off with Italian restaurants, because, let's be honest... everyone is always willing to make it a cheat day if pasta is involved. Or is that just me? 😳

THE URBANITE INSIGHT RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. SEVEN HILLS
Neighborhood: Russian Hill
My favorite dish: The Ravioli Uovo, which is one big ravioli with a spinach-ricotta filling with oozy egg yolk & truffle too. It's their signature dish and absolutely mouthwatering!
2. SPQR
Neighborhood: Pacific Heights
My favorite dish: Meyer Lemon Linguini, which consists of a really rich linguini in Alfredo sauce with abalone liver, grated bottarga, and just a tiny hint of Meyer lemon.
Neighborhood: Mission
My favorite dish: Braised Pork Shoulder Tortellini (can be seasonal so might not always be on the menu). You can't go wrong with any pasta here - the al dente homemade pasta is my favorite in the city!
4. DEL POPOLO
Neighborhood: Lower Nob Hill
My favorite dish: House Made Sausage Pizza, which has crushed tomato, gooey mozzarella, Gypsy peppers, red onion, and chili.
5. LOCANDA
Neighborhood: Mission
My favorite dish: Tortelli with Black Trumpet Mushrooms - handmade pasta filled with crescenza cheese from Bellwether Farms, served with rich black trumpet mushrooms, with mint and pine nuts for a buttery crunch.
